IWD Fundraiser Launch
March is Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day this year is March 8. Trans-Ontario Express have partnered to do a fundraiser with a great organization whose mission is to uplift and empower women experiencing or at-risk-of homelessness. They complete their mission through in-kind support, education and community participation.
The Shoebox Project focuses on the gift of a shoebox to women experiencing (or at-risk of) homelessness, filled with essential items, cosmetics, winter accessories, self-care and a positive note. We are launching a fundraiser for items to be packed in boxes, and we need your help on this cause!
About The Shoebox Project
Local Women Empowerment
The Shoebox Project is a registered Canadian charity whose mission is to uplift women experiencing or at-risk of homelessness through in-kind donations, education, and
community participation. Our gift-filled shoeboxes will be carefully curated and include thoughtful messages of support, which allow their special recipients to experience hope, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging.
The boxes are sent to: local shelters, immigrant, refugee & newcomer welcome programs, community health centres, Indigenous friendship centres, food & clothing banks, supportive & transitional housing programs, homeless outreach services and drop-ins, employment support services, mental health and addiction services, and First Nations reserves.
Collaboration
with Kits for a Cause
We have collaborated with Kits for a Cause, an organization that helps provide specially curated products, that will be sent to us for our Shoebox packing event. The quality products provided by them will be based on the recommended items that these shelters and centres need, and based on the amount donated.
Through Kits for a Cause, we have set up a donation platform, so you as a donor can make a direct impact in the lives of women in our community without the hassle of shopping for products. You can be recognized publicly on the platform after donating, or donate anonymously. The choice is yours!
If you make a donation of a shoebox or just the essentials, you or your company will be eligible to receive a tax receipt. Donors must provide their email address in order to receive the Tax receipt
